European champion and winner of six races between two and four, including: the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (12f) and Coronation Cup (12f), the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes (12f) and the Listed Clive Graham Stakes (10f). He was placed second in three other Group 1s: the Irish Derby (12f), the Eclipse Stakes (10f) and the Dewhurst Stakes (7f), as well as the Group 3 Craven Stakes (8f) and placed third in the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club (12f) and Group 1 King George & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (12f). He also came fourth in the 2,000 Guineas (8f).
Sire:
BLUSHING GROOM Champion 2-y-o in France in 1976 and Champion Miler in Europe in 1977. Seven wins at 5½-8f, including five Group 1s: the Grand Criterium, the Prix de la Salamandre, the Prix Morny, the Prix Robert Papin and the Poule d’Essai des Poulains. Champion sire of some 92 Stakes winners, including Group/Grade 1 winners: Nashwan, Rainbow Quest, Arazi, Blushing John, Mount Livermore, Snow Bride, Groom Dancer, Baillamont, Sillery, Rahy, Al Bahathri, Crystal Glitters, etc.
Family:
Rainbow Quest's dam won two races in France including the Group 3 Prix de Minerve. I WILL FOLLOW is the dam of two other winners in addition to Rainbow Quest – Arcane (by Blushing Groom), who won three races, at three and four, and was placed three times, including second in the Listed Giolla Mear, and the mare Red Comes Up (also by Blushing Groom), the dam of Red Affair (by Generous), winner of the Listed Mitsubishi Diamond Stakes and Kassab (by Caerleon), the winner of four races and placed third in the Group 3 Queens Vase.
Rainbow Quest retired to stud in 1986 and stood at Juddmonte Farm's Banstead Manor Stud.
